Announcing the Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview

Undoubtedly, you have seen the announcements made by Brad Anderson, Corporate Vice President of Program Management in Microsoft’s Windows Server and System Center Group (WSSC), during the TechEd North America 2012 Keynote. During this keynote, among other things, he announced the General Availability of the Preview for Windows Server 2012 R2.

Today, on the day Brad Anderson keynotes another TechEd event in Madrid (guess where I am), this Preview build is available for you to download in a couple of formats.

Click the download of your choice on the Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview Download page and join the preview:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Preview ISO
    x64 *.iso file (3938 MB)
    Use this file to install your physical or virtual Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Preview VHD (Server Core)
    x64 *.vhdx file (compressed) (1563 MB)
    Use this file on Hyper-V to attach as primary disk to a Virtual Machine to use it as a Server Core installation of Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Preview VHD (Server with a GUI)
    x64 *.vhdx file (compressed) (2809 MB)
    Use this file on Hyper-V to attach as primary disk to a Virtual Machine to use it as a Server Core installation of Windows Server 2012 R2.
