Pictures of WinDays XV

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I was invited by Microsoft Croatia to come present two sessions at WinDays XV.

The WinDays XV event was organized from April 21, 2015 through April 24, 2015 at the Melia Coral Hotel and the Sol Istra Garden Hotel in the Katoro area near Umag, Croatia. The event is split between a Business event (April 21 and April 22) and Technology event (April 23 and April 24). Both my sessions were scheduled for Windays Technology.

I flew into Venice, Italy via Rome on Wednesday April 22 and drove to Umag via Trieste and Koper, Slovenia. This two-hour drive took me to places I had never been and provided views beyond my imagination:

After a good nights rest, I presented my first 45-minute session at 9:30 AM in room Coral 5 on Running Highly-Sensitive Domain Controllers on Hyper-V and Azure:

After the presentation, I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and some fun tech discussions with local Microsoft MVPs Romeo Mlinar, Ljubo Brodaric and Luka Manojlovic. We exchanged ideas on admin privilege Active Directory domains for Hyper-V hosts and how to reset local administrator accounts since we can’t do that anymore through Group Policy Preferences. I won’t go in much detail, but Luka’s point of view on this is interesting, to say the least…

We attended some other sessions that day and even the WinDays Party, featuring Luminize, but we didn’t drink alcohol because we all had presentations on Friday.

Fortunately, my session on Bring Your Own (BYO) was only scheduled for 2:30 PM so I had ample time to soak up the atmosphere of the event and prepare for the session.

The crowd was much smaller in my second presentation, which allowed for more interaction. In the end, however, 45 minutes only allows you to scratch the surface on web-ready authentication, rich authorization, straight-forward access and policy-based systems management… Good fun, though.

Driving back to Venice Marco Polo Airport and flying back to Amsterdam Schiphol was a breeze thanks to the natural high I experienced after presenting at WinDays.

I had a blast presenting at WinDays XV!
Thank you.
