Microsoft is working on the next version of Windows Server, dubbed Windows Server 2016. Now, we can all enjoy the third technical preview (TP3) for Windows Server 2016 in our test environments.
About Windows Server 2016 TP3
Windows Server 2016 is the successor to Windows Server 2012 R2, which was released in September 2013. Windows Server 2016 shares most of its code with Windows 10, Windows Mobile 10 and XBox One, in Microsofts ‘One Windows’ initiative.
Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 3 (TP3) is Microsofts third technical preview of Windows Server 2016 and replaces Technical Preview 2 (TP2), which was made available in May 2015.
Windows Server 2016 TP3 has build number 10.0.10514 in the TH2 branche.
Get started with Windows Server 2016 TP3
Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 3 x64 is available as a 4753MB ISO download to Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers, at the Microsoft Eval Center and, of course, as a Virtual Machine template in Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service.
Hyper-V Server 2016 Technical Preview 3 x64 is also available to Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers and at the Microsoft Eval Center. This ISO file weighs in at about 2653MB.
Windows Server 2016 Essentials Technical Preview 3 x64 is available as a 4183MB ISO download to Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers, only.
Expiration of Windows Server 2016 TP3
Technical Preview 3 expires July 15, 2016.
