After the version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool, linked to in this blogpost, had also expired. (April 4), Microsoft has decided to re-release the original version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool at the original link. (April 20) You can use the official Microsoft download for your on-premises Active Directory replication status needs.
Before February 2016, as an Active Directory administrator, you could use the free Active Directory Replication Status Tool from Microsoft on your non-Internet connected Domain Controllers and see the status of their replication.
However, the latest version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool displays a license expiry error since February 2016 that redirects you to Microsoft’s online Operation Management Suite. Still free, but online.
This poses a challenge for admins that do not want, or are not allowed to channel their inner inner Active Directory Replication Status to Operations Management Suite.
Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer offers downloading a legacy version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool, but I have dug up the latest version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool installer, that will not display the license expiry warning.
Download
Download this version of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool (ADREPLSTATUS) installer here.
This is the official installer for the Active Directory Replication Status Tool from Microsoft, that was officially signed and made publicly available on December 11, 2015.
This installer will install version 1.1 build 2.6.40122.1 of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool.
Note:
The version offered for download above includes the fixes for version 1.1 build 2.3.20717.1 of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool, as publicly released by Microsoft on August 19, 2015.
Enjoy!

Thanks to my fellow Enterprise Mobility – Identity and Access Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals Jimmy ‘the Swede’ Andersson and Meinolf Weber, without whom I would never have been able to write this blogpost.
You deserve a beer!
The OMS stuff is crap. I just need a simple tool. Thanks heaps!
Hi,
Thanks for this! I had been looking everywhere for a working copy, you're a life-saver 🙂
Cheers Mate!
I expirienced an issue with this download.
I get the message, “a later version of “tool” is already installed, setup exiting.”
I fixed it by uninstalling any instance of the Active Directory Replication Status Tool. Downloaded this version from the link above – selecting "run" – Now it works with the correct build.
Don't work, still have a license expired.
This copy is not working any more.
Hi all,
This tool expired today.
Working for a federal agency the amount of paperwork I would have to generate to even start asking for permission to use OMS makes this change ridiculous. Was a great simple troubleshooting tool, maybe someone with some Powershell chops can make a new one, I hate when MS takes a simple thing and overly complicates it to force new agendas on its users
The tool expired on April 5th. Any updates on a newer version?
It is ridiculous to change a working tool to an online version.
Same issue for me. The tool is not working anymore and i am not able to start it.
Any idea when will the new version be available?
Cheers
I have installed the tool via MOMS and it isnt a patch on the local tool.
Please bring back Active Directory Replication Status Tool at least until the online tool has the same functionality!
Please bring back the AD replication status tool. This is a backward step which is a view shared by others.
Having it online makes no sense since i would have to login to access it (i think i might have worked out that there was a problem with AD before then)
This is weird !
I just checked the MS-DL-Site and it has got a new version of adreplstatusInstaller.msi 1.1 on it (from 18th of April) which fails MS signature validation but actually only gives an informational message about that OMS is avail and then starts …
Can someone confirm this ?
Robert is correct. We have re-released the original version of the tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30005
(We were having some signing issues yesterday, hence the failure on signature validation — sorry about that! We think we have it all straightened out now 🙂
The OMS version will continue to be available as well. Sander has done a great job in this blog post series of explaining the benefits of the OMS version over the on premises version.
Thank you to everyone who gave feedback!
Hi,
The expiration issue is back again.
Thanks
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
We've seen a new release of the stand-alone Active Directory Replication Status Tool and related expiration issues of existing installs.
Didier van Hoye, a Cloud and Datacenter MVP and fellow Veeam Vanguard wrote a blogpost on how to get rid of these issues.
Basically, perform these steps:
