Last week, Raymond and I drove to Bonn, Germany, to deliver a session at the 2022 Cloud Identity Summit. We drove off on Wednesday around 2PM to make it in time for the speaker dinner at 6:30PM.

Luckily, we didn’t run into any major traffic and were able to leave our bags at the hotel that the organization kindly arranged for the speakers to spend the night: The Schlosshotel Kommende Ramersdorf:

This would be the only time we would be able to experience this picture perfect hotel during daylight, so we were glad we made it in time. We dropped our gear in the rooms and headed towards restaurant L’Osteria to meet the other speakers.

At 11PM we walked out and back to the hotel to went to bed. We wanted to have a good night’s rest to deliver the best presentation possible in the morning.

BreakfastRhineAfter breakfast, we packed our gear and drove to the Adesso SE office near the Rhine river, where the event was about to start.

Presenting on Complicating Factors

At 4:30PM we started our session on Windows Hello for Business Hybrid Access. We had a lot of fun explaining why you no longer want to use passwords and plain old multi-factor authentication, when you can use Passwordless authentication and meet other organizational goals in the process.

Speaker Panel

After a short break, where I bumped into Guido Grillenmeier, the speakers gathered to offer a closing panel discussion to the attendees. The organization then raffled off some Cloud Identity Summit goodies and Yubikeys to the attendees that stuck until the end of the event.

Eventually, Raymond and I left home. Right before midnight, Raymond actually made it home.

Thank you! Thumbs up

Thank you to Thomas, René, Gregor and Melanie for having Raymond and me as speakers. Thanks to the sponsors of the event and the Azure Meetup Bonn community. And of course, a big thank you to all the attendees!
