Microsoft Defender for Identity helps Active Directory admins defend against advanced persistent threats (APTs) targeting their Active Directory Domain Services infrastructures. Microsoft Defender for Identity was formerly known as Azure Advanced Threat Protection (Azure ATP). Admins at many organizations that onboarded to the Defender for Identity functionality still manage it through the Azure ATP Portal.

Moving to the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal

Over the last few months, the experiences and functions of Microsoft Defender for Identity have been made available in Microsoft’s extended detection and response (XDR) platform. Admins who have onboarded their organization to Defender for Identity can now manage the functionality through the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal.

Decommissioning the Standalone Portal

Now, all major Microsoft Defender for Identity features have now been made available in Microsoft 365 Defender portal, the Azure ATP Portal, that has since been renamed to the standalone Defender for Identity portal, should no longer  be required for admins at organizations using Defender for Identity.

Microsoft plans to implement portal redirection settings. The plan is to to automatically enable this redirection for each tenant starting January 31, 2023.

Once the redirection setting is enabled, any requests to the standalone Defender for Identity Portal are redirected to the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal along with any direct links to its functionality.

Opt-out

If admins are not yet familiar with Defender for Identity’s features and settings as they are represented in the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal, organizations can still manually opt-out by disabling the redirection. Perform these steps:

• Open a browser and navigate to the the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal.
• In the navigation menu, click Settings.
• In the Settings menu, click Identities.
• Click General.
• Change the setting for Portal redirection.
