One year at NeoNomads! Eight years as an MVP!

Reading Time: 2 minutes 2020 has been a weird year for me. We sold our house and bought an apartment, moved to a different city in The Netherlands and soon after that, decided to quit my job at the same company for over 18 years. A difficult decision but a necessary one. I planned to take three months off for some travelling and self-reflection and to decide what to do next. And then the pandemic happened… Yeah, those where some interesting weeks (read: I

A new job at NeoNomads!

Reading Time: 3 minutes It's time for a little personal update on what's happening, it's been a while since I've blogged. I wanted to write and post this for myself, but it might be interesting for others. It was a period of heavy soul-searching and job hunting, eventually leading me to join a new consulting company named NeoNomads as a Cloud Architect starting July 1st 2020! Leaving I was a bit restless for a few years now, but it took me a while to

Practical PowerShell Exchange Server 2016 aka Writing a book

Reading Time: 2 minutes Some of you may have wondered why I was somewhat quiet. The reason was that during the last year (and a half?) I was writing a book with MVP Damian Scoles. That book is now available as an PDF and Apple iBook! The physical paperback is now also available in our shop and includes a PDF and ePub version. Other eBook formats (Amazon, Kobo, Nook etc.) will follow soon as well. Damian and I decided to keep the whole process

Reading Time: < 1 minute Today was a nerve racking day (a lot of F5/F9 to refresh my MVP profile page and to see if I got that one mail in Outlook), but eventually I received some good news: Dear Dave Stork, Congratulations! A new blog backend

Reading Time: < 1 minute The past few months Sander Berkouwer (MVP and admin for dirteam.com) worked hard to get our new blogsite up and running. We had an ancient Telligent (now Zimbra) Community Server, which was limited and didn't provide new and interesting features. So, we decided to move towards WordPress 4. Luckily we could migrate most of our blog posts and comments from Community Server to WordPress. Also, the main link to get to this blog has changed from http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/davestork to https://dirteam.com/dave, which

Behind the presentation: Office 365 apps

Reading Time: 6 minutes Last Monday evening I presented “Office 365 apps” for the Dutch NGN-NGI interest group. And obviously the presentation was interesting, I think a little behind the scenes look for this particular presentation is worth a blog post. Actually, they might complement each other! So, I was asked to present something about apps on an Office 365 themed event. That was basically the assignment and please notice the very broad scope it could have. That was the first challenge. The first

2012: looking back

Reading Time: 3 minutes Now that 2012 is in it's final hours, I wanted to look back professionally but also personally. It's the human thing to do [:)] (Fellow UC Architects Michel de Rooij and Micheal van Hoorenbeeck also made a retrospective) What were the interesting technical events that happened in 2012?

Quickly exchange contact info via Windows Phone Vision Search

Reading Time: 2 minutes In case people didn’t know it yet: I’m a Windows Phone fan. I wasn't a pioneer and owner from the very start, but I did get the Lumia 800 a few weeks after it was released. And although it didn’t have all my crucial apps from the start, I was amazed by it’s built-in functionality. And for most important apps that quickly improved (for me at least).

My contributions to future and past events

Reading Time: 2 minutes Sometimes people ask me whether I’m busy and with what. Well, next to my “normal” job consulting, designing, implementing and troubleshooting Exchange, Office 365 and some other stuff. Next to attending events and such, I also contribute to them. The 31st of October there will be an Exchange day in the Netherlands, organized by the Dutch IT Pro group NGN. Together with Jaap Wesselius, Kay Sellenrode, Johan Veldhuis, Jetze Mellema,  Michel de Rooij and Ashley Flentge we will have full
